Children's Ministry

The Children’s Ministries of Shalom exist to work alongside families as they strive to raise their children in a manner pleasing to God. We desire to help guide each child to a personal relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ and to assist in giving each child godly life habits. We offer a strong ministry to children ages birth through fifth grade. Questions about Children's Ministries should be directed to the church office.

MEGA Sports Camp

Program Administrators: Theresa Nygaard & Polly Kerkvliet

Shalom's version of a summer Bible program focuses on teaching children the basic skills of a sport and learning biblical truths that will stick with them for a lifetime. MEGA Sports Camp is for children ages 3 1/2 years through completed fifth-grade and will be held July 19-23, 2010. 

Angel Haven (newborn to 3 years old)

 Program Administrator: Amy Chellin

This ministry is available for ages infant to 3 years old during the 8:00, 9:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday morning worship services and the 9:30 a.m. Sunday school hour. There are several dedicated caregivers who minister to the children through playing, reading, singing, and prayer. Our desire is for the nursery to be a positive stepping stone to Sunday school and the worship services.

Children's Sunday School (2 years old through fifth-grade)

Program Administrator: Sara Redekopp

This ministry is available for children ages 2 years old through fifth-grade. This program meets on Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 10:45. The children are organized according to ages and school grade to provide maximum interest and activity for all children. There are 8-12 dedicated teachers who provide loving instruction about the reality and character of God and the truth and relevance of the Bible.

Release Time (second through fifth grade)

Program Administrator: Rob Kuenzi

This ministry is available to students in second through fifth grade who attend Park Elementary and New Discovery Montessori or are homeschooled. From October through April, every Wednesday morning students are bussed from Park and New Discovery to Shalom. Home schooled children can be dropped off at Shalom. While at Shalom, students receive about 45 minutes of instruction in topics such as Missions and Worship from dedicated teachers.

Kids ROCK (3 years by Sept. 1, 2010 through fifth grade)

Program Administrators: Gina Bashans & Theresa Nygaard

This ministry is available for children ages 3 through fifth grade. This program meets on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. September through mid-May. Kids participate in corporate singing and worship, then break into station groups that explore cooking, art, science, games, story telling, making videos, computers and music. Children are organized into groups of about 10 and are led by 1 or 2 leaders. NOTE: Watch the church calendar for the fall 2010 kickoff.
